报告题目：Mechanics of epithelial sheet folding

报告内容：Epithelialization of blastomeres marks the beginning of animal development. Folding and delimitation convert two-dimentional epithelial sheet into three-dimentional organ structures. We study development of the respiratory tracheal system of Drosophila as a model to understand principles of epithelial morphogenesis. In this talk I present our study of invagination of tracheal placode using high resolution imaging, genetics and chemical and physical perturbation experiments. I will discuss force generation process in the placode and the role of mitotic cell rounding as a trigger for abrupt buckling instability that initiate rapid tissue invagination. Those findings build the basis for physical understanding of morphogenesis.
